The high level of pre-emergency for forest fires, declared in practically all the territory except for the Valencia coast, materialized in a chain of incidents concentrated in the provinces of Castellón and Valencia. Throughout the day, emergency services deployed an intense ground and air operation, reinforced by preventive surveillance flights stipulated in the Special Plan for Forest Fires (PEIF), managing to contain the different outbreaks before they escalated.
The province of Castellón experienced a succession of six vegetation fires in just a few hours. One of the points that generated the most concern was the Muntanyeta de Vinarós, as the fire broke out in a forest area. There, firefighters managed to perimeter the flames after mobilizing a unit from the Provincial Consortium of Firefighters of Castelló, four units of Forest Firefighters from the Generalitat Valenciana (one of them air-lifted), a forest coordinator, and two aerial resources (a helicopter and a plane).
In Santa Magdalena de Pulpis, another fire next to a farm affected an abandoned crop, forcing an increase in the initial deployment to two ground units and one air-lifted unit of Forest Firefighters, a fire engine, a helicopter, a forest coordinator, and a unit from the Provincial Consortium of Firefighters of Castelló to quell the fire's advance. The municipality of Benicarló also raised alarms at Puig de la Nau, where Emergency services coordinated a deployment comprising three ground units and one air-lifted unit of Forest Firefighters, a fire engine, an aerial resource, several units from the Provincial Consortium of Firefighters of Castelló, and an environmental agent, with the support of the Local Police.
In parallel, in Nules, smoke from a vegetation fire temporarily affected traffic circulation on nearby roads before being extinguished by an air-lifted unit of Forest Firefighters, an aerial resource, and a provincial unit. In Burriana, another fire occurred, which was resolved thanks to the intervention of two ground forest units, two fire engines, and the Local Police. Finally, in Benlloc, a fire from a truck on the CV-156 spread to an abandoned cultivated field. This last incident was completely extinguished after the intervention of the Plana Alta park and two units of Forest Firefighters.
The province of Valencia also faced complications, registering two incidents near the city's access points. On one hand, a vegetation fire broke out next to the V-30, in the municipality of Quart de Poblet. The Emergency Coordination Center immediately activated the extinction protocol to prevent the flames from affecting adjacent infrastructure. The specialized ground deployment consisted of a unit of Forest Firefighters with a fire engine, two units from the Provincial Consortium of Firefighters of Valencia, and the Local Police of Quart de Poblet. Subsequently, two more units from the Firefighters of Valencia joined, managing to encircle the fire.
On the other hand, the A-3 highway experienced traffic jams at kilometer 351, in the municipality of Xirivella, due to a fire in a truck carrying garbage. The incident forced a complete closure of the highway towards Madrid for a few minutes to allow for the safe work of the emergency services. A unit of firefighters from the Paterna park, along with a sergeant, and another from the Catarroja park, who carried out vehicle extinction tasks and secured the road, were dispatched to the scene.
