The Castellón Provincial Council will allocate 4.1 million euros for road improvements in Benassal, Les Useres, La Mata, and Forcall, strengthening the province's infrastructure.

The Castellón Provincial Council has announced an investment of 4.1 million euros for the improvement of its road network, with planned actions in Benassal, Les Useres, La Mata, and Forcall. This initiative, to be presented at the upcoming June 30th plenary session, is part of a credit modification utilizing treasury reserves from 2025.
The President of the Council, Marta Barrachina, highlighted that these investments focus on rural road sections. "We continue working to show and demonstrate that living in the interior of our province is synonymous with well-being, opportunities, and development," stated Barrachina, emphasizing the importance of improving a necessary resource to guarantee opportunities, especially in the province's interior. "We are connecting the territory and opportunities," she added.
The Vice President and Head of Infrastructure, Héctor Folgado, detailed the three planned actions. The Council will cover 100% of the work costs, which will later be subsidized by 50% by the Ministry of Territorial Policy. The projects include improving the surface of the CV-120 road (between P.K. 0+000 and 7+205), connecting Forcall and La Mata; improving a section of the CV-159 road (between P.K. 6+000 and 18+400) passing through La Barona; and improving the CV-166 road (between P.K. 28+300 and 32+403) in Benassal.
Folgado stressed that having well-maintained roads not only fosters connectivity in Castellón and creates opportunities but is also crucial for improving road safety. The tenders have already been awarded, and the execution of the works is expected to take place during 2026. This investment is possible thanks to the confirmation of meeting the requirements to use past fiscal year's reserves.
In addition to the road investment, the credit modification includes 24.45 million euros to advance over 80% of the Plan Impulsa 2026/2027 to local municipalities. In total, combined with the already approved budget, municipalities and inter-municipal bodies will receive 85% of the total investment for works and services under Plan Impulsa and 100% of the current year's operating expenses, amounting to over 26.4 million euros.
