Butterflies Ibi Industriales Crowned Spanish Flag Football Champions

The Alicante-based team wins the national title in Calatayud, concluding a successful season with individual accolades.

Butterflies Ibi Industriales have capped off an exceptional season by being crowned champions of the Spanish Open Women's Flag Football tournament held in Calatayud (Zaragoza).

The Alicante team completed a brilliant tournament, triumphing in a hard-fought final against Valencia Firebats. The players from Ibi demonstrated their dominance on the national stage, concluding a memorable season.
From the very first match, Butterflies made their title aspirations clear. They began the group stage with a decisive victory over Valencia Firebats (27-6). Shortly after, they secured their second win against Cornellá Meerkats (47-7) and a third against Málaga Corsarias (31-18).
The only setback of the tournament came against Atlantic Devils (19-27), but the team quickly recovered. They concluded the group stage with another victory against Plasencia Ducks (29-18), securing their direct qualification for the final as group leaders.
The final once again pitted Butterflies Ibi Industriales against Valencia Firebats. After an evenly matched first half (7-6), the Alicante team showcased their competitive spirit in the second half, successfully halting the Valencian team's comeback attempts to win 20-12.
In addition to the title, three Butterflies players were named to the ideal lineups: Teresa Luis (best linebacker), Daniela Ballesta (best blitzer), and Violeta Wiksten (best quarterback). Wiksten was also recognized as the competition's Most Valuable Player (MVP).
In just two years of existence, Butterflies Ibi Industriales has established itself as a leading force in national and international flag football. This season, they have achieved two silver medals (Adria Bowl and NBFO in China) and four titles: the Valencian Cup, the King Bowl (Netherlands), the Valencian League, and the Spanish Flag Bowl.
