The president of the Provincial Council of Castellón, Marta Barrachina, visited Figueroles to officially communicate that the municipality of l’Alcalatén will host the event on October 2, 2026. This decision aims to reinforce the institution's commitment to smaller municipalities.
«In 4 months, Figueroles will be in the spotlight along with the awardees who, through their art, sports achievements, solidarity, and commitment to innovation, make the province of Castellón great», stated Barrachina. The Council thus joins a special milestone for the municipality, taking over from Aín and Tírig, hosts of the last two editions.
The event will include several recognitions. The High Distinction will be awarded to Juan García Ripollés for his national and international artistic career. The Sports Merit will go to the tennis player from Vall d’Uixó, Sara Sorribes, an Olympic bronze medalist. The Arts Merit will honor Melchor Zapata, creator of renowned sculptures.
In the Innovation category, Arkadia Space will be recognized for its work on green propulsion systems for satellites, positioning Castellón as an aerospace benchmark. Finally, the Teléfono de la Esperanza (Hope Phone) will receive the Solidarity Merit on its 25th anniversary for its work in emotional support.
