The City Council of San Vicente del Raspeig has certified the steady progress of the second phase of the Water Center, where the concreting process for the four new planned swimming pools has commenced. The work is proceeding according to the established timeline, maintaining the projected completion date of 2027. Residents are not expected to be able to use the facilities until after the municipal elections next May.
The main indoor swimming pool will measure 25 meters in length by 16 meters in width, with a variable depth ranging from 1.60 to 1.90 meters. The therapeutic and hydrotherapy pool will be 1.05 meters deep, while the teaching pool will range between 70 and 85 centimeters. The outdoor pool will be 10 by 20 meters, with a depth varying from 70 centimeters to 1.20 meters.
The mayor, Pachi Pascual, accompanied by the Councilor for Sports, Ricardo Bernabeu, municipal architects, and the project's management team, visited the facilities to assess the progress of this strategic project for the municipality. Pascual expressed his satisfaction, highlighting that the new pools "are already taking shape and allow us to appreciate the real dimension of a much-anticipated project."
Pascual added that the execution is meeting the committed deadlines, "which allows us to face the next phases with optimism and confidence." He emphasized that this infrastructure will represent "a qualitative leap" for sports practice, therapeutic activity, and healthy leisure in San Vicente, significantly expanding the range of municipal aquatic services.
Municipal technicians explained that, following the completion of excavation work, the concreting phase for the pool basins and adjacent structures is underway and will continue until next July. Among the most advanced tasks are the water purification and treatment systems.
According to the schedule, foundation work will begin between late August and early September, preceding the installation of the roof structure. Concurrently, the pools will be lined with tiles: green for the outdoor pool and white with black markings for the indoor pools.
The project includes measures to enhance sustainability and energy efficiency, such as the installation of photovoltaic panels on the roof. A new electrical transformation center is also planned to serve this second phase and future developments. Electrical and climate control system installations are expected to commence before the end of the year.
The new complex is designed to comply with all current accessibility regulations, featuring adapted access points, changing rooms, and accessible restrooms. Existing changing rooms and services for the currently operational pool will also be upgraded, and new pre-swim shower points will be installed.
