The Plaza de los Luceros in Alicante vibrated on Sunday with Pirotecnia del Mediterráneo, which delivered a powerful 128-decibel final 'earthquake' during the third Mascletà Contest session.

The third session of the XX Mascletà Contest of the 2026 Hogueras de Alicante featured Pirotecnia del Mediterráneo, which made the Plaza de los Luceros vibrate with a powerful final 'earthquake' reaching 128 decibels. Thousands of people followed the spectacle from the surroundings of the emblematic Alicante venue.
The display, lasting 5 minutes and 26 seconds, consumed 150 kilograms of regulated material and combined traditional elements with innovative proposals. The mascletà began with a Valencian firecracker sequence that led into classic shots and new-concept effects, supported by digital resources.
Throughout the show, four phases of aerial effects alternated with ground compositions of high sonic power. After a finishing blow that ended the aerial part, the so-called 'fire of ropes' began, one of the most characteristic moments of the design by the Valencian firm.
The 'Mediterranean Score' then took center stage with high-caliber shots and five retentions accompanied by aerial fire, increasing the tension of the display. The anticipated final 'earthquake' shook the square before leading into an intense aerial bombardment.
The mascletà concluded with a sharp and resounding blow that capped a performance highly applauded by the audience. At the end of the display, pyrotechnician Antonio García expressed his satisfaction with the result.
