The Pla Neighborhood Association of Alicante reiterates its complaint about persistent leaks at the Carolinas market, a problem unresolved despite a renovation costing over 320,000 euros.

The Neighborhood Association of the Pla neighborhood in Alicante maintains its complaint about the state of disrepair that, it claims, affects the Carolinas market building, despite the renovation carried out from 2022 onwards. The residents' group is once again highlighting the existence of leaks awaiting repair, more than two months after the situation was previously made public.
The group points out that, practically since the building's rehabilitation works began, awarded in 2021, merchants and users have had to endure inconveniences such as delays in the work, which lasted almost double the planned time, and suffer water leaks from the roof whenever there are significant rains.
The association laments that "three years later and with over 320,000 euros spent, merchants and users are worse off than before the works began." They have collected testimonies from merchants indicating the damages they suffer when it rains, such as breakdowns in refrigerators, loss of goods due to water damage, and even minor electric shocks.
Aware that the degradation of facilities affects the entire neighborhood, the association has launched a campaign to collect petitions to present to the City Council of Alicante. Subscribers demand actions to resolve the situation without additional cost to citizens. The campaign began with the merchants, to whom the association offers to handle the submission of their petitions to save them time.
To date, nearly ten petitions from merchants have been submitted, and the association plans to submit those from practically all of them if there is no swift and effective response from the mayor, Mr. Barcala. They consider that "it's raining on wet ground" and are considering continuing to collect petitions from residents if no action is taken.
