Pedro Herrero and Calasancio Schools Win Alicante's School Bonfires Contest

Educational centers were awarded in the children's and youth categories for their bonfire creations.

The Pedro Herrero and Instituto Calasancio Hijas de la Divina Pastora schools have been the winners of the 20th Alicante School Bonfires Contest in the children's and youth categories, respectively. The verdict was announced this Friday.

In the children's category, second prize went to Colegio Sagrada Familia-Josefinas, and third to the Fundación Educativa Jesuitas Centro-Este. For the youth category, the second award was given to CEIP Benalúa and the third to Comunidad Colegio Nazaret.
The Manuel Porras distinctions, which recognize the best designs, awarded the CEIP Pedro Duque and CEE Lo Morant. The jury evaluated criteria such as originality, ingenuity, creativity, quality of execution, plastic vision, critical content, and student involvement.
The awards ceremony will take place next Wednesday, June 17, at the Alicante City Hall. The prizes include school supplies and books. The first prize winner receives the Pedro Soriano trophy, a banner, and supplies worth 250 euros; the second, a banner and 150 euros; and the third, a banner and 100 euros.
Participating in the children's category were Fundación Educativa Jesuitas Centro-Este, CEIP El Tossal, Colegio Sagrada Familia-Josefinas, CEIP José Carlos Aguilera, Colegio Pedro Herrero, CEIP Pedro Duque, and CEIP San Francisco de Asís. In the youth category, the participants included CEE Lo Morant, IES Virgen del Remedio, AMPA Jesús María Villafranqueza, IES Playa San Juan, Instituto Calasancio Hijas de la Divina Pastora, Comunidad Colegio Nazaret, AMPA CEIP Mediterráneo, and CEIP Benalúa.
The School Bonfires contest thus maintains its commitment to bringing the festival closer to students and fostering the participation of educational centers in one of Alicante's most representative traditions.
