The initiative, organized by the University of Alicante and the bonfire committee, is designed for individuals with diverse accessibility needs, including those with hearing or visual impairments. The tours will take place on Monday, June 22nd, across four time slots.
During the tours, live audio descriptions will be provided, along with adapted materials such as sign language videos, Braille cards, and pictograms. Additionally, tactile and olfactory experiences will be incorporated to enhance understanding and enjoyment of the bonfire.
The project, named FogUAccess, is conceived as a pilot accessibility study under the collaboration agreement between the University of Alicante and the Sèneca-Autobusos bonfire, active since 2017. The aim is to analyze real audience needs and generate best practices applicable to other festivals.
Aitana Tresáncoras, head of Universal Accessibility and Inclusion for the bonfire, emphasized the goal to "adapt the bonfire and its spaces to the needs of all people, taking care of every detail to break down barriers." The committee's president, Josep Amand Tomàs, welcomed the collaboration, which strengthens a decade-long inclusive effort by the commission.
