These subsidies, aimed at fostering the independence of young residents aged 15 to 30 registered in Alicante, have been awarded to the first 50 eligible applicants based on a priority order. A total of 77 applications were received, with 50 accepted and 10 rejected for failing to meet the criteria, primarily for not being registered residents of the city.
The Councilor for Youth, Carlos de Juan, highlighted the government's commitment to assisting young people in becoming independent by promoting rental policies, subsidizing driving licenses, and complementing these with other training and employment support initiatives.
The call was open to any young resident registered in Alicante who obtained any type of driving license between July 1 and December 31, 2025. The maximum amount for the grants was 10,000 euros, distributed as 200 euros per applicant.
Among the requirements, priority was given to large or single-parent families, individuals with a disability exceeding 33%, and in case of a tie, the older applicant was favored.
De Juan announced that a new call for applications covering the entire year 2026 is being finalized and will be published in 2027, with the aim of consolidating these driving license grants into a single annual application.
