The Mayor of L'Alqueria d'Asnar, César Palmer, has strongly criticized the Neighborhood Movement's planned protest with the slogan "Death to Democracy," calling it "deeply irresponsible" and contrary to democratic values.

The mayor emphasized that democracy is the system that guarantees freedom of expression and citizen participation. "Calling for the 'death of democracy' is a profoundly irresponsible message and contrary to the values of respect, coexistence, and plurality that should govern any modern society," Palmer stated.
The political situation in L'Alqueria d'Asnar has become tense since last November, when the mayor began governing alone after the PP and another non-affiliated councilor left the government pact. Tense situations have occurred, including a no-confidence vote that was not debated, and mutual accusations of mismanagement and complaints.
Palmer expressed concern that "a group without institutional representation is appropriating the voice of an entire population." He stressed that L'Alqueria d'Asnar is composed of residents with diverse opinions, and no one can speak on behalf of everyone.
The mayor reiterated that while political disagreements and criticism of any government are legitimate, "what is unacceptable is to claim to represent an entire town while launching a message that attacks the democratic principles." He defended citizens' right to express themselves within the legal and democratic framework, as well as the municipality's good name.
