Jaime Ruix is now officially the new mayor of La Pobla de Vallbona, becoming at 26 years old the youngest mayor in Spain for a municipality over 15,000 inhabitants.

At just 26 years old, Jaime Ruix has taken office as the mayor of La Pobla de Vallbona, making him Spain's youngest municipal leader in a town with over 15,000 residents. Ruix received the mayoral sash this Saturday, marking a new chapter for the municipality.
His political vocation, which he states is not an improvisation but a long-held goal, dates back to his childhood. Ruix describes himself as "just another resident who now has the honor of working for La Pobla," emphasizing his deep knowledge of the town where he was born and raised. Although he doesn't come from a politically connected family, those who have known him since childhood recall his early interest in political affairs, while other children were engaged in typical childhood games.
Ruix's institutional journey began very early. At just nineteen years old, he ran for mayor, and at twenty-two, he founded Centrats en la Pobla, a municipal group established with the aim of "being a mirror of the residents." Now, after seven years of municipal experience, he assumes the top position thanks to a government pact with the Partido Popular. Former mayor Abel Martí noted that the handover was agreed upon and that "today was the day to fulfill it."
Ruix's youth is seen by many residents as a symbol of renewal and drive for the municipality. The new mayor faces the challenge of governing for the next twelve months with the stated objective of improving the quality of life "for the men and women of La Pobla."
