The most significant project involves the comprehensive remodeling of the transformer substation located in the El Oliveral industrial park. The main objective of this action is to increase supply reliability, modernize facilities, and provide them with greater response capacity to extreme weather phenomena.
To minimize flood risk, the energy company has invested 7.3 million euros in updating the 132 kilovolt park and completely renovating the 20 kV system. Key improvements include the installation of two Integrated Medium Voltage Centers on elevated platforms, more than one and a half meters above ground.
Additionally, the substation now incorporates the first Integrated Control System (CIMC), which centralizes telecommunications, protections, and operational control in a single space. This infrastructure has also been installed on an elevated concrete base to enhance safety against potential water surges. The company has also replaced one of the existing transformers with a new 40 MVA unit located on a raised structure.
These actions are complemented by the renovation of 46 transformation centers distributed throughout the municipality and the undergrounding of over one kilometer of power line in the El Oliveral industrial park. These works have involved an additional investment of 3.4 million euros.
“"The actions carried out in Riba-roja de Túria will allow residents and industries to have a future-proof network thanks to the significant investment in more compact, modern, and resilient facilities, incorporating the most advanced digitalization standards."
The interventions are part of the il·lumina plan, through which Iberdrola is mobilizing 100 million euros to redesign the electricity grid affected by the DANA storm using new resilience and digitalization solutions. To develop this plan, Iberdrola has formed a specific team of 35 professionals exclusively dedicated to the project, in addition to collaborating with nearly 1,000 workers from contractor companies, mostly from the Valencian Community.
