The Spanish Government has allocated over 400 million euros for the recovery of the agricultural sector affected by the DANA, an investment exceeding 40 million euros for the Turia river irrigators. This was emphasized by the special commissioner for Reconstruction and Repair of damages caused by the DANA, Zulima Pérez, during a technical session organized by the Central Board of Users of the Turia river in Riba-roja de Túria.
As explained by Pérez, a significant portion of the investment from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has focused on the regions linked to the Turia irrigation system, with actions aimed at restoring hydraulic infrastructure, agricultural holdings, and rural roads damaged by the storm. The Executive has already disbursed 9,570.46 million euros in aid and subsidies for the recovery of affected areas.
Investments made in the regions of La Serranía, Camp de Túria, l’Horta Sud, l’Horta Nord, and the southern districts of València exceed 25.3 million euros in direct actions. Added to this is nearly 25 million euros for the recovery of irrigation infrastructure, including the repair of the Main Canal of Camp de Túria. In total, the investment linked to the Turia irrigators' territory surpasses 40 million euros.
Key support lines include 76.8 million euros to compensate for losses in agricultural holdings, 93 million to repair farms with own resources, over 4 million for affected nurseries, 6.8 million for actions on public hydraulic domain, and nearly 25.4 million to compensate franchises of insured holdings. Additionally, 2 million euros have been allocated for damaged agricultural machinery and 3.4 million for preferential financing. Agroseguro's indemnities amount to 52.36 million euros.
Regarding rural roads, 3,500 kilometers have been repaired in 90 affected municipalities, with 64 million euros executed out of a budget of 75 million. Irrigation communities have 120 ongoing projects exceeding 80 million euros, of which 30 have been completed with an execution of 52 million. Actions have been taken on 3,527 agricultural plots and 48 nurseries, with an executed investment of 62 million euros.
The commissioner reiterated that the Spanish Government's support for farmers and irrigation communities in the Valencian Community is 'firm and permanent,' aiming to ensure the competitiveness of Valencian agriculture in the face of future challenges.
