The Sagunto City Council plenary session has approved a crucial motion for the dignification and recognition of Early Childhood Education Technicians (TEI) for children aged 0 to 3, seeking labor improvements and a protective regulatory framework.

The municipal agreement aims for collective agreements to be real protection tools, going beyond mere formalities. It is considered urgent to establish a regulatory framework that protects the physical and mental health of TEI professionals, with protocols against emotional exhaustion and ergonomic measures for this highly feminized group.
The motion also demands fair salaries and recognition of the inherent responsibility of their work. It seeks to end the wage gap affecting the sector, advocating for dignified remuneration that values the high responsibility of educating and caring for children in their earliest stages.

"It is unacceptable that qualified professionals for children aged 0 to 3 receive remuneration that barely reaches the legal minimum, ignoring their social and pedagogical value."

Furthermore, the need for a change in institutional and social paradigm is highlighted, understanding TEI professionals as educators and not as care staff. It is demanded that both the Generalitat Valenciana and sector employers recognize and value the educational work carried out in classrooms.
Among the demands are the improvement of educational quality through the reduction of ratios in all classrooms and the implementation of educational pairs, ensuring that no professional is alone in the complexity of the classroom. It is also demanded that inclusive education be provided with resources, with more specialized support staff in each center to address specific needs.
The motion calls for the equalization of the work calendar, teaching and complementary hours of TEI professionals with those of the second cycle of Early Childhood and Primary Education. It advocates for fair working hours, with the same rights to rest and work-life balance, and real time during working hours to plan, prepare activities, and elaborate all the documentation required by the Conselleria. Finally, the right to continuous training and professional recycling within working hours is demanded, funded and facilitated by the Administration or the company.
The agreement also shows solidarity with the indefinite strike initiated in the Community of Madrid and the commitment to support actions in the Valencian territory that involve not signing any agreement that does not decisively advance on the previous points. The Conselleria of Education, sector employers, and unions are urged to negotiate honestly to definitively resolve the situation.
