This Monday, June 1st, marks one year since Elche CF's last promotion to the First Division. The 'franjiverdes' will continue competing in LaLiga EA Sports thanks to a last-gasp survival.

The 2026/27 season will see the 'franjiverdes' compete again in LaLiga EA Sports. Their survival, secured with a 1-1 draw against FC Girona at Montilivi stadium, comes after a season in the elite where staying up has been particularly challenging. Elche finished the campaign sixth from bottom with 43 points, one point ahead of three teams that were ultimately relegated.
This personal best of 43 points represents a club record in the First Division since victories began being awarded three points. The survival marks a triumphant end to an exceptional season, during which Elche finished the first half of the season in their best league position in the top flight since the late 1960s.
Despite the changes in sporting planning during the last two transfer windows, many of the protagonists of the recent success were also heroes of the promotion achieved in A Coruña. However, for the upcoming campaign, the squad will see some changes. The first to depart are coach Eder Sarabia and midfielder Aleix Febas, but they will not be the only ones.
Last year's promotion to the First Division was the seventh in Elche's century-long history. It came 761 days after their last relegation, thanks to a 0-4 away win against Deportivo de La Coruña, with goals from Mourad, John, Germán Valera, and Pedro Bigas. Elche finished that 42nd matchday as runners-up with 77 points.
Nearly 2,000 'franjiverde' fans traveled to the Abanca-Riazor stadium to support the team. Thousands more followed the match from afar, celebrating the achievement late into the night. The following day, the city of Elche came out in force to welcome and celebrate their return to the top flight with the team.
