The club from Elche has officially announced the agreement with Anselmi, highlighting his international experience and his positional play philosophy. The entity expects the new coach to provide continuity to the sporting project.
Anselmi, born in Buenos Aires in 1985, has a notable career in South America, where he managed Independiente del Valle of Ecuador, winning titles such as the Copa Sudamericana 2022 and the Recopa Sudamericana. He also had a spell at Mexican club Cruz Azul.
His move to Europe occurred in 2024, managing Portuguese side Porto for 21 matches, with ten wins and six draws, also participating in the Europa League and the Club World Cup. His last role before joining Elche was with Brazilian club Botafogo.
Elche's statement emphasizes that the Argentine coach has developed teams with personality and a recognizable offensive approach, which aligns with the club's desire to build a competitive project in the increasingly demanding Primera División.
The 'franjiverde' bench became vacant after Eder Sarabia resigned from continuing at the helm of the team once their top-flight status was secured.
