Elche CF suffered a 3-1 defeat against Celta de Vigo at Abanca Balaídos, largely due to numerous defensive errors that made the opponent's task easier.

The match, part of LaLiga EA Sports, saw Elche CF display a soft and disjointed defense, allowing Celta to capitalize on almost every approach to Matías Dituro's goal. The home team's goals were scored by Iago Aspas and Hugo Álvarez in the first hour of play, and by Borja Iglesias near the end, highlighting the Elche team's lack of defensive resolve.
For Elche, André da Silva scored the only goal from the penalty spot in the 84th minute, when the score was already 2-0. This result leaves the 'franjiverde' team in a delicate situation, between two and four points from the relegation zone, currently occupied by Deportivo Alavés, their next opponent.
The Elche coach made only two significant changes to the starting eleven, with John Chetauya and 'Tete' Morente coming in. Despite having more possession of the ball at times, Elche lacked depth and was ineffective in attack, while Celta demonstrated great efficiency in front of goal.
Defensive errors were decisive, such as Affengruber's in the 13th minute, which led to Celta's first goal. Later, another concession from a free-kick allowed Aspas to score the second. Elche tried to react with changes in the second half, but it was not enough to overturn the result.
