The city of Elche kicked off the celebration of International Museum Day with a day full of free cultural activities for all audiences. Events unfolded across various museum and heritage sites, drawing numerous visitors and families to the historic center.
This year's program included the inauguration of new spaces that had not opened their doors on this day in previous years, such as the Molí del Real, the Venida de la Virgen museum, and the Casa de la Festa. These new additions enrich the city's cultural offerings.
Participating museums, including the MAHE, the Museo del Palmeral, and the Museo de La Alcudia, offered open days, family educational workshops, and guided tours. The Museum of Paleontology of Elche (MUPE) stood out with its extensive program, featuring tours of laboratories and storage areas, workshops, and a children's scavenger hunt.
The MUPE also hosted the exhibition opening of El ocaso Terra by Elche artist Pablo Rodríguez, a reflection on human interaction with the environment and the anthropocene. The exhibition addresses the impact of our lifestyle on the planet through symbolic works.
The celebration extends throughout the weekend, with more activities planned for Sunday at various heritage sites, including theatrical tours and workshops, solidifying Elche as a vibrant meeting point for rediscovering collective memory.
