The Elche City Council has requested a meeting with the Spanish Government to advance the rehabilitation of the San Antón neighborhood, seeking to secure pending funding for the next phases of urban renewal and the construction of 328 homes.

The municipal corporation of Elche has sent a letter to the Secretary of State for Housing to address the necessary economic contribution and coordinate the project among the involved administrations. The main objective is to ensure the continuity of an action considered a priority for the municipality.
The municipal official recalled that the San Antón neighborhood has pending phases and argued that it requires an urgent response. In this regard, he stated that the neighborhood cannot wait any longer and insisted on the need to make the construction of the four planned buildings effective.

The action corresponds to blocks 6, 7, 8, and 9, which will total 328 homes. The City Council indicates that four plots have already been generated after the demolition of the old blocks, allowing progress in the planning of the subsequent phases.
The estimated budget for this new phase of rehabilitation amounts to 45,089,500 euros. Coordination between the Elche City Council, the Generalitat, the State, and residents is crucial to definitively unblock a priority action for the municipality.
