National Police have arrested a man in Elche accused of industrial property crime for allegedly building a replica of a Ferrari 360 Spider and putting it up for sale.

National Police have arrested a man in Elche accused of industrial property crime. He allegedly modified a car's chassis to build an exact replica of the Ferrari 360 Spider model and subsequently put it up for sale on a specialized website. The price, "much lower" than the original, alerted investigators.
The Cybercrime Group of the Superior Police Headquarters of Murcia detected the potential violation of industrial property rights. During an operation in the Elche district of El Altet, the suspect was located while driving the vehicle, described as "an excellent replica of the original model" from the Italian company.
An exhaustive inspection of the car and its documentation allowed officers to verify that a steel monocoque chassis from another brand had allegedly been used. On this, using fiberglass and other low-cost materials, a vehicle resembling a Ferrari was constructed, allegedly illicitly imitating the designs, lines, logos, and typography of the renowned Cavallino Rampante.
The vehicle featured details such as a black horse on a yellow background, an Italian flag, and the SF initials of Scuderia Ferrari. Furthermore, according to the police, the vehicle had allegedly obtained the necessary permits for industrial modification and ITV (vehicle inspection), having supposedly been "adapted in its weights and measures to administrative requirements".
Given the evidence of the alleged illicit use of identifying and registered elements of the Ferrari brand, National Police investigators seized the car and arrested the man accused of industrial property crime.
