The Carrús neighborhood in Elche is hosting the development of the future Jayton Sociocultural Center, representing the most significant public investment by the Elche City Council in this area in recent decades. The mayor, Pablo Ruz, accompanied by members of the municipal government, visited the construction site, which aims to provide the neighborhood with a large-scale cultural, social, and administrative space.
Work is progressing according to schedule, with the excavation for the underground parking area already completed. Mr. Ruz highlighted that the investment exceeds 13.9 million euros, calling it "the largest investment ever made in Carrús by the City Council."
With a built area of 4,400 square meters, the new center is envisioned as one of the city's main sociocultural hubs. The design includes an auditorium with a capacity for over 500 people, a cinema hall for 130 spectators, a multipurpose room for neighborhood, educational, and social activities, and nearly 1,000 square meters of municipal offices to bring public services closer to citizens.
“"An investment that objectively and truly brings dignity to a neighborhood that needs significant public investment and a cultural facility of this magnitude."
The project also includes the creation of a large open plaza on Avenida de Novelda, designed as a new meeting and community space for residents. The intervention also involves the improvement and redevelopment of the entire surrounding area.
The complex will feature two levels of free, supervised underground parking, with capacity for approximately 200 vehicles. This provision addresses a long-standing demand from the neighborhood and will enhance accessibility to the new facility. The works, with an execution period of 18 months, are scheduled for completion by 2027.
