The building of 76 affordable rental homes for young people being constructed in the Elche neighborhood of Travalón has already reached 30% completion. The development, located on Maestro Ángel Llorca street, represents one of the main initiatives to expand the municipal public housing stock in Elche.
The mayor, Pablo Ruz, visited the construction site this Friday along with the regional secretary of Housing of the Generalitat Valenciana, Sebastián Fernández, to check the progress of the work. The project is promoted by PIMESA and has European Next Generation funding, obtained through a call from the Generalitat aimed at city councils.
The project includes the construction of 76 homes, 75 parking spaces, and two commercial premises, with an investment exceeding 6 million euros. The apartments will have one, two, or three bedrooms, with surface areas ranging from 46 to 82 square meters.
Ruz highlighted that this development «represents a determined commitment to facilitate housing access for young people who need real alternatives in the current real estate market context». Furthermore, the mayor framed the initiative within the municipal strategy to continue expanding the supply of affordable housing in the city.
For his part, Sebastián Fernández emphasized the collaboration between administrations to promote projects that increase the stock of affordable housing and facilitate young people's access to a home.
Once the works are completed, the properties will become part of the municipal public affordable rental stock for young people managed by PIMESA. The municipal forecast places the completion of the works on July 30, 2027, within the established deadlines for this project in Travalón.
