A thousand teachers gathered today in the Constitution square of Torrevieja to highlight the demands of the indefinite strike affecting public schools in the region.

Teacher representatives have pointed out that the city is going through an educational emergency. Key complaints include high student-to-teacher ratios, which in some cases exceed 30 students, and the presence of several schools operating exclusively in prefabricated classrooms, such as centers 14, 15, 16, and IES Número 6.
During the protest, the focus was on the lack of resources to address student diversity. In primary and infant schools, the percentage of foreign students exceeds 85%. Additionally, infrastructure deterioration was reported, such as at the Virgen del Rosario School, where the elevator has been broken all year, hindering access for students with reduced mobility.
Meanwhile, the municipal education official denied that schools had been urged to tighten requirements for the transition from primary to secondary education. He also indicated that the administration is evaluating several alternatives for the location of the IES Mare Nostrum delegated section and confirmed that the repair of the affected school's elevator has already been contracted.
