Autopsies conducted on the bodies of the 51-year-old woman, her 24-year-old son, and the 55-year-old civil guard, who allegedly took their lives before committing suicide, have certified it as a misogynistic crime. These forensic tests were carried out at the facilities of the Institute of Legal Medicine in Alicante.
It is anticipated that the court number 3 of Orihuela, which has taken charge of the case, may soon transfer jurisdiction to another court specializing in gender violence. The misogynistic crime has been the primary line of investigation from the outset and has caused profound consternation in Dolores, a small town where the family was well-known.
The murdered woman was a school bus driver and had resided in the municipality with her partner since 1996. Pending official confirmation as a gender violence case by the Ministry of Equality, this incident becomes the third woman murdered in the Valencian Community in 2026, following the feminicides in Benicàssim and Xilxes.
Across Spain, nineteen women have been victims of gender violence in 2026, and 1,361 since 2003. Furthermore, the death of a woman in Navarra this Monday is under investigation, which could add to the figures if confirmed as a misogynistic crime.
The 016 service assists victims of misogynistic violence 24 hours a day in 53 languages.
