The town in the Baix Maestrat region hosted this Saturday, June 20, 2026, the second edition of the Sastre&Ferrando popular race, an event notable for honoring Spanish high jump champions Cristina Ferrando and Alexis Sastre. The competition brought together around 500 runners on an urban circuit.
The course, 100% urban through Benicarló's most emblematic streets, was marked by high temperatures, which posed an additional challenge for the athletes in an already demanding race.
In the 10-kilometer distance, Musa Sowe demonstrated overwhelming dominance, winning with a time of 35:16. Second place went to Martí Duclabe (36:18), and third to Luis Martín Tojar (36:34).
In the women's 10 km category, Begoña Mulet took victory with a time of 46:07. She was followed by Myriam Viñuales (47:52) and Beatriz Sorlí (48:48), confirming the race's toughness, influenced by the heat and the course.
The shorter 5-kilometer race saw Eric Remolina win the men's category with 18:03, and Raquel Galán the women's with 24:22.
The 5K i 10K Sastre&Ferrando thus solidifies its place in Benicarló's sports calendar, combining popular sport, local tribute, and an urban format that brings athletics closer to the city.
